A massive 7.2 magnitude earthquake rocked the country on Saturday, August 14. The Haitian government has declared a state of emergency:

At least 2,189 people are dead
12,268 have been injured – and counting
1.2 MILLION people, including 540,000 children, have been impacted
More than 26,000 of homes have been reduced to rubble, displacing untold multitudes
Hospitals are being overrun with patients – one hospital administrator said “We don’t have enough supplies” as they rushed to set up tents in its courtyard
Many roads and bridges have been destroyed by the earthquake
Heavy rains which caused mudslides blocked additional access to those in need, thwarting search and rescue efforts
All this on the heels of the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse on July 7, resulting in a leadership vacuum and a government unprepared for any natural disaster
