The Furious Love of God

Greater love has no man than this: that a man lay down his life for his friends.
– John 15:13

Calvary’s cross is the place where the furious love of God intersects with our broken and shattered hearts. Never before and never since has love been on such open display as it was that day when Jesus was swung up between heaven and earth. The pitiful Palestinian sun beat down into His open wounds until it felt as though the very flames of hell itself had embedded themselves in the flesh of the only begotten Son of God.

Women shrieked and men stood paralyzed. The earth shook, and it was as black as night at noonday. God was unsheathing His weapon. The love of Jesus was starkly, publicly exhibited for all to see.

The compassion of Jesus is the compassion of Almighty God. God loves you with a love so forceful, so powerful, that it becomes the wielded weapon in His hand to defeat every lie, accusation, sickness, bondage, torment, and lack of your human soul. The fruit of God’s love is power!

Holy Spirit, help me to walk in the power of God’s love.
